Congo Tetra
Aquarium Fish Care for the Congo TetraAppearance This tetra is mainly silver in color with fairly large scales. Their body can show reflections of yellow, blue and green as they move in the water. The fins are transparent with the caudal fin having a white edge.Peaceful They are peaceful and shy shoaling fish that needs to be kept in schools of six or more. More is always better with this type of shoaling fish, if you have enough space for them. Although they are shy and easily frightened they will become less shy with time. Community Species They are suitable for a community aquarium setup and can be kept with most Tetras and other peaceful species like Danios and Platies. Because they have flowing fins, some fish species like the Tiger Barb will tend to nip at their fins, so you need to choose their tank mates carefully. Strata They will mostly swim in the middle to lower regions of the Fish Tank. Feeding You can feed them mainly flake food and supplement their diet with other food like blood worms and brine shrimp. They will do very well when they regularly get live foods. Breeding them is not very easy but it is doable. For the best chance of success separate a breeding pair in a well planted tank and feed them live foods for a couple of days. The water should be soft and by increasing the lighting they should then spawn. Remove both parents after spawning. The fry will hatch in four to six days. They do not grow very quick.
